What Is Support at Home? (and What Happened to Home Care Packages?)
Support at Home is the Australian Government's in-home aged care program. It replaced Home Care Packages and the Short-Term Restorative Care Programme on 1 November 2025. If you've been researching "Home Care Packages," you're in the right place, it's the same kind of funded in-home support, under a new name and structure.
Under Support at Home, you're assessed and allocated a funding classification based on your care needs, then you choose a provider, like Caring Lotus, to deliver the services in your agreed plan. Funding generally covers things like personal care, domestic assistance, nursing, allied health and home modifications, depending on your classification.
If you already hold an existing Home Care Package, you should have transitioned automatically, your provider can talk you through what changed for you specifically. If you're new to the system, our team can help you understand the assessment process and what to expect.
