Our growth and purpose
The journey of Caring Lotus is deeply intertwined with the path of our founder and CEO, Kerry Bolton. During a decade living and working in America, Kerry immersed herself in mental health and addiction services at the renowned Buckelew Programs, the largest provider of these services in the North Bay of California. Here she learned the fundamental principle that still guides us today: the importance of combining professional excellence with genuine compassion.
The sage advice Kerry learned during this experience, that she still lives by today is, “The team at Buckelew taught me to have a heart in business and that it is OK to cry”. Kerry recalls the countless times she would feel emotional after a challenging day at work, and she would feel safe enough to shed a tear and share with her compassionate team. “They showed me that talking and communicating is so important, even if you are a professional businesswoman” and it is this same message that Kerry now shares with her team at Caring Lotus.
Returning to Australia as a single mother facing significant challenges, Kerry experienced first hand the transformative power of community support. This personal journey strengthened her resolve to create an organisation that would embody both professional excellence and heartfelt understanding.
Working within the mental health and disability industry she furthered her education and worked with an early NDIS trial site as a business analyst.
In February 2021, Caring Lotus took its first steps, growing from a modest home-based office into a thriving award-winning organisation in central Werribee with over 100 staff members across Victoria.
